MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Vulnerable Sector Check valid within the last 6 months or can obtain one

QUALIFICATIONS

Post RN education and experience in gerontology or related field preferred
Demonstrated leadership skills, assessment, interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to supervise, and provide direction to RPNs, PSWs and other staff
Ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to providing resident-focused care in a long-term care setting
Current CPR certification
Experience with Point-Click-Care and electronic MAR is very beneficial
Knowledge related to the Long-Term Care Homes Act 79/10
Completes Mandatory Education as assigned, and has a desire for ongoing learning
Attends Staff Meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence from CNO
Post RN education and experience in Infection Prevention and Control Practices, including: infectious diseases, cleaning and disinfection, data collection and trend analysis, reporting protocols, outbreak management, asepsis, microbiology, adult education, epidemiology, program management; AND, if not certified…..
Agrees to complete Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology by April 2025, or sooner
Experience in a long-term care home setting is an asset
Demonstrated leadership skills and organizational skills
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to supervise, and provide direction to all staff and departments in the Home
Must work with the interdisciplinary team to implement the IPAC program
Must manage and oversee the entire Infection Prevention and Control Program
Oversees the delivery of IPAC education to all staff, caregivers, volunteers, visitors and residents
Audits IPAC practices in the Home
Conducts regular infectious disease surveillance
Convenes the Outbreak Management Team at the outset of an outbreak and regularly throughout an outbreak
Convenes the interdisciplinary IPAC team and conducts quarterly meetings (or more often during an outbreak) as per Fixing Long Term Care Act (FLTCA), 2021; Section 102, subsection 4

Ensures surveillance of resident symptoms as per FLTCA, 2021, section 102, subsection 9
Reviews any daily and monthly screening results collected to determine any action that may be required
Implement required improvements to the IPAC program as required by audits
Ensures there is a hand hygiene program in place
Ensure there is a screening program for infectious diseases for staff as well as an immunization program for staff
Ensure a program is in place for residents to be offered immunization against pneumococcus, tetanus and diphtheria
Ensure there is a policy that is enforced that any pets living in, or visiting the Home have up-to-date immunizations
Be knowledgeable about the Infection Prevention and Control Program as outlined in the FLTCA, 2021 (Section

102) in its entirety, and apply all information

Ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to providing excellent quality, resident focused care
Ability to find efficiencies in both time management and human resources
Ability to ensure supplies are utilized without waste and within allotted budget in consultation with the CEO, DOC and all Managers
Current CPR certification
Attends RN/RPN meetings. Ability to teach, explain and demonstrate any changes related to the major LTC Homes programs
Requires excellent computer skills
Has knowledge related to the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act (2021) & Regulations
Must have a keen interest in policy review and development
Must have a keen interest in maintaining statistics
Must be willing and able to be flexible in assignments
Any other duties as assigned
Strong attendance history required
