- How do I get my loved one on your waiting list? How long does it take to get in?
- The first step is to call Ontario Health at Home; they handle the intake/waitlists for all LTC homes in Ontario.
- Before you can move into one of the long-term care homes you have selected, you will likely need to wait until an appropriate bed for your care needs becomes available. Waiting time can vary depending on the type of accommodation you are waiting for and your specific care needs.

- Can I book a tour of Valley Manor?
- Yes, you can book a tour by completing the “Book A Tour – Valley Manor Inc.” online document under the “Contact Us” tab on our website, or calling our Resident and Family Service Coordinator at (613) 756-2643 ext. 229.
- What are the different rates for your rooms (basic/semi/private)?
- The Ministry of Long-Term Care sets the room rates annually on July 1st to view the current rates click on “Rates” under the “Residents & Families” tab on our website.
- How do I know if my loved one qualifies for a rate reduction?
- The Long-Term Care Rate Reduction Program is based on their annual net income, and is only applicable for a basic or ward room. The program uses their current notice of assessment (NOA) and a formula to calculate reduced monthly rates. Simply provide the NOA to the home upon move in and they will calculate if your loved one qualifies.
- Does the home have doctors?
- Yes, currently we have 5 local doctors who take turns accepting new residents at Valley Manor on a rotation. If one of the 5 is already your loved one’s doctor, they will remain their doctor.
- What if my roommate and I do not get along?
- If attempted onsite interventions have been unsuccessful the Nursing and CQI Coordinator will arrange for a room change. We appreciate your patience, as this can take a little bit of time to arrange.
- How can I get a window bed, semi-private/private room?
- On admission or at any time during they stay call our Resident and Family Service Coordinator to be added to the internal waitlist.
- Does Valley manor provide onsite hairdressing services?
- Yes, Valley Manor has a hairdresser on contract that comes to the home once a week to provide the service. This allows all our resident to access the service on a rotational basis. The service is an unfunded service that will be added to the next month’s accommodation charges when they are processed.
- Does Valley Manor provide onsite footcare services?
- Advanced Nursing Foot Care is provided by St. Francis Memorial Hospital’s trained nursing staff. The service is an unfunded service that will be added to the next month’s accommodation charges when they are processed. The resident or POA must sign a consent form prior to the service being provided.
- Can/how do I bring my loved one out/home for the day?
- Please inform the Charge Nurse at ext. 235 (preferably 24 hrs. notice) so any medications required can be arranged and ready.
- NOTE: Extended leaves are addressed in the “Resident and Family Handbook”.
- What are the transportation services available?
- Home Support: Valley Manor can attempt to book Home Support if they are available, booking well in advance increases the availability. This service is free for medical appointments and a reduced rate for personal trips.
- Valley Manor Van: VM has a wheel chair accessible van available for booking. Please note that medical appointments take precedence over personal trips. The service is an unfunded service that will be added to the next month’s accommodation charges when they are processed. If required accompaniment by a PSW or Nurse can be arranged for an additional fee. The current fees are outlined in our “Resident and Family Handbook”.
- NOTE: Please remember the farther in advance you book either service the more availability there will be and medical appointments and or emergencies will always take precedence over personal trips.
