Valley Manor Long Term Care is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Care. This is a full-time position.

The Assistant Director of Care plays a key role in supporting clinical operations, fostering positive staff relations, promoting professional development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and services to our residents. This position is ideal for a strong nursing leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop nursing team members to support their professional growth and success.
  • Assist managers and supervisors in addressing employee performance concerns through constructive coaching and corrective action processes.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of performance improvement plans.
  • Conduct and support performance appraisals and probationary reviews.
  • Promote employee engagement and contribute to staff retention initiatives.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities.
  • Assist with investigations, incident reviews, and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor clinical documentation and resident care practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist with ministry inspections and compliance activities.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and policy reviews.
  • Monitor indicators and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support implementation of best practices and evidence-informed care initiatives.
  • Provide leadership support during director of care vacation and absences.
  • Assist with staffing coordination and workforce planning.
  • Support nursing leadership in achieving goals.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (RN).
  • A minimum of three years of leadership experience in long-term care, retirement, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting performance appraisals and managing employee performance.
  • Proven success in coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
  • Experience developing and implementing performance improvement plans.
  • Strong knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and applicable regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with quality improvement and regulatory compliance processes is an asset.
