Job Posting: Finance Manager

Location: Valley Manor
Position: Full-Time, 37. 5 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hybrid work arrangement can be accommodated.

Valley Manor is seeking a Finance Manager to lead all financial operations of the home. This is a key leadership role responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This position also oversees IT systems and select support services, and plays an important role in ensuring the home remains financially sustainable and compliant within the long-term care sector.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Financial Leadership

  • Lead all accounting functions, including monthly financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance and provide clear reporting to leadership and the Board
  • Support the annual operating and capital budget process
  • Ensure strong internal controls, reconciliations, and audit readiness

Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee all Ministry reporting (OHRS, MIS, occupancy, annual reports, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with long-term care funding requirements and legislation
  • Lead year-end processes and liaise with external auditors

Operations & Oversight

  • Supervise finance staff and oversee accounting processes (AP, AR, payroll, general ledger)
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and resident trust accounts
  • Support IT systems and recommend improvements where needed
  • Participate in strategic planning and organizational initiatives

Labour Relations & Support

  • Support union-related financial analysis, including costing for negotiations
  • Provide financial insights to leadership to support decision-making

What You Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience, ideally in healthcare or long-term care
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and audits
  • Ability to lead the annual budget development process in collaboration with leadership and department managers.
  • Experience with government reporting and funding models (an asset)
  • Familiarity with unionized environments
  • Strong systems skills (experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar is an asset)

Compensation

  • Starting salary: $85,000 per year
