DESCRIPTION
This position is a temporary maternity/parental leave replacement. Employment will end upon the return of the incumbent employee or at the end of the leave period, whichever occurs first. No guarantee of continued employment is implied or provided.
Valley Manor is a dynamic and progressive Long-Term Care Home. We are a rural, fully Accredited facility, offering quality nursing care in a friendly & welcoming environment. We are committed to the safety of our residents and to compliance with the LTCHA legislation. The successful applicant will report to the DOC, and will work closely with the RAI Coordinator, Nursing Coordinator & Registered Staff, PT & PT Aide, Rehabilitation Assistant, Activities Director and PSWs. The successful applicant will be expected to coordinate Restorative Care programs with other departments as necessary. Collaboration with the OT and vendors is also necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registered Practical Nurse with a current certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Vulnerable Sector Check valid within the last 6 months or can obtain one
QUALIFICATIONS and DUTIES
- Post RPN education and experience in gerontology or related field preferred
- High interest in the Restorative Care Philosophy.
- Ability to motivate residents and staff is considered as well as leadership skills is considered an asset
- Ability to assist with lifts and transfers, bed mobility, and any other tasks involved with the Restorative Care Program.
- Exceptional knowledge about proper body mechanics to protect self and others during the course of the work duties is an expectation.
- Organized and have the ability to multi-task in a high stress position which requires exceptional coping and organizational skills to be successful in the role.
- Computer literacy is a must.
- Interviewing skills are necessary
STARTING WAGE: $26.31 per hour
Pay Transparency Notice: Where applicable under the (ONA) collective agreement, newly hired nursing employees will be placed at the entry rate of pay at the time of hire. An employee may be eligible for a rate adjustment based on prior relevant nursing experience, provided that: Verifiable proof of qualifying experience is submitted within three (3) months of the date of hire; and the experience meets the criteria for recognition as set out in the collective agreement.
